O artyście

Fatoumata Diawara is a Grammy-nominated Malian singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actress, recognized as a leading voice in contemporary African music.
She first gained attention as a dancer in her father’s troupe before being revealed through cinema, notably in 'Sia, le rêve du python' by Dani Kouyaté. After leaving Mali to escape a forced marriage, she toured with the Royal de Luxe theatre company, where her singing talent emerged.

Her debut album Fatou (2011) established her distinctive sound blending Wassoulou traditions, folk guitar, and contemporary influences. Since then, she has released multiple albums and received Grammy and Victoires de la Musique nominations, confirming her status as a major figure on the global music scene.

Fatoumata Diawara’s career is marked by numerous collaborations reflecting her openness to musical dialogue and cross-cultural exchange. She has worked, among others, with Damon Albarn, Herbie Hancock, Roberto Fonseca, Disclosure, Oumou Sangaré, -M- and the collective Lamomali, as well as Gorillaz, illustrating her ability to connect African traditions with jazz, electronic, pop, and experimental music.

In 2026, she became the first Black woman to sign a signature guitar with Gibson Epiphone. Today, she continues to embody a modern artist committed to transmission, creativity, and cultural dialogue worldwide.
